Political participation of homeless people
Kapusňáková, Zuzana ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (advisor) ; Dohnalová, Marie (referee)
This thesis examines the political participation of homeless individuals in the Czech Republic and the significance of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in supporting this participation. The theoretical part introduces the concepts of civic and political participation and homelessness. In the empirical part, interviews with homeless individuals and NGO representatives are used. The results show that practical barriers such as lack of information and resources for participation in political processes are the main obstacles to political participation for homeless individuals. It was also found that NGOs play a significant role in supporting political participation of homeless individuals and can help remove some of the barriers that prevent these individuals from political engagement. The significance of this work lies in its focus on a marginalized group of citizens and contribution to the discussion on inclusive political participation in the Czech Republic. The thesis also shows the importance of NGOs in supporting political participation of homeless individuals and can serve as inspiration for further research in this area.
Low financial literacy as a reason for the recurrence of homelessness
KORYTOVÁ, Ivana
This dissertation was to present the relationship between low financial literacy and recurrence of homelessness. One of the many causes of homelessness in this case is lack of funds leading to foreclosures and debt and lack of financial responsibility. The research, which was carried out in the form of a qualitative approach with the method of case studies, which were made using observations and narrative interviews, showed that low financial literacy among homeless people manifests itself and is connected with their return to social services. In the case of debtors, for example, ignorance of the amount owed and fear of working as a full-time employee, in the sense of fear of enforcement deductions, when debtors have a misconception about deductions and non-disposal income. Their disregard for debt and overall financial irresponsibility will always land them back in the shelter, thus relapsing into homelessness. The results will be provided to social workers and workers in social services at Charita České Budějovice and students of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The work has the potential to serve as a basis for information on the issue of homelessness and education in the field of financial literacy.

Social Services for Homeless People from Employees' Perspective
PĚKNICOVÁ, Barbora
This thesis deals with social services for homeless people from the perspective of their employees. The aim of this paper is to chart the barriers which influence providing social services to homeless people. The main question is asked about what barriers are perceived by social workers whilst working with the homeless. This is followed by four subquestions concerning the ways in which the employees perceive the barriers from their personal, the users' and the society's perspective as well as regarding the employees' work environment. In the theoretical part, the following terms are defined: homelessness, social work with homeless people, social services for the homeless. Furthermore, selected organizations helping the homeless are mentioned. The research is described in the empirical part of the thesis, including the hypotheses, research questions, methodology and results. The research utilizes qualitative methods, survey methodology and the semi-structured interview method. The basic data sample has been comprised of social workers employed in registered social services for the homeless in the town of České Budějovice. The final results show that there is a large number of barriers in all the aforementioned areas. Some of them are e.g. the clients' psychical difficulties, their addiction to alcohol and drugs. According to the social workers, a significant barrier are some prejudices of the society. The homeless are often perceived as the main instigators of their current situation, who do not want to find a solution to the problem, and they are judged by their appearance. Furthermore, the research has shown that, from the social worker's experience, the society's perception of the social services for the homeless and the profession of social workers is rather negative. Other barriers are observed by the social workers in their working environment, primarily in equipment and working space. The workers do not feel as unsafe while working as it may seem, however they sometimes feel helpless and disappointed when their clients do not do what they should. Other barriers found include system barriers connected to deficiencies in providing medical care and deficiencies in social services for homeless people. The results of this thesis can serve as a complementary study material, as feedback for social workers, or as a basis of improving a specific service to a provider of social services.
The interaction with homeless people in society.
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Denisa
This thesis deals with the interaction between homeless people and the society. The aim of this work is to find out the view of social workers on homeless people, who they are in daily contact with. The issue of homeless people is thoroughly described in the theoretical part. I worked on this issue conducting qualitative research and using the polling method. The technique I used was semi-structured interviews. I had the interviews with social workers of The Contact Center Prevent and The Department of Social Affairs of the České Budějovice City. I evaluated the interviews with the help of the open coding method. I have found out that the social workers perceive homeless people as incompetent people who need help. They try to change their difficult life situation, view them without prejudice and social workers are also the only ones who do not judge them and understand the situation in which they find themselves. I have also found out that the social workers are more concerned than motivated for their work with these people. This bachelor thesis and all the findings have helped me to change my opinion on the way the social workers view the homeless people. I thought they regarded them as people who are completely responsible for the situation they find themselves in. After having evaluated the results of the interviews, this thought was disproved. There is no unambiguous guidance on how to return a homeless person back to the society. I hope this work will help the company change its mind about homeless people.
